Doctor In Charge

British comedy of 1972-1973.

From dyk.homestead.com: By the 1970s, Richard Gordon's Doctor series of books had already been successfully adapted to the big screen, so it was hardly surprising that there would be a gallerie spin-off. Doctor in the House, Doctor on the Go and Doctor in Charge ran more or less constantly throughout the '70s; yet despite being written by the likes of John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie, the tired old stereotypes from the '50s original were still very much in evidence. The nurses were either dizzy sexpots or ice maidens, the Sisters were always flustered and harassed, and the senior surgeons were arrogant snobs. The extremely dizzy blonde nurse was played by Sammie Winmill, a great favourite of mine at the time (hee hee). She also appeared in the cult kids' gallerie programme The Tomorrow People. These scans come from the re-released Best Of Doctor in Charge video. Sorry about the quality - I had to reduce the scans to keep some degree of detail. Somehow, I doubt if this will ever be released on DVD.
